Founded in Kidderminster over 98 years ago in 1908, Pritchard’s is a true family firm now in its fourth generation, going strong and still keeping it in the family.

Early records show that brothers William and Albert Pritchard moved to Kidderminster in the early 1900’s, with Albert establishing a drapery business in the High Street in 1908.

Around 1924 Albert moved from Kidderminster to Tenbury Wells, leaving his brother William to take over and run their successful Kidderminster business. Between 1916 and 1924 the business grew to include both numbers 26 and 25 High Street, until in 1929 they moved further up the High Street to occupy number 9.

Operating throughout both world wars, the company sustained its supply of quality products under very difficult circumstances and of course rationing. However, war brought innovation and with innovation new ideas and designs, which generated an increased selection of product lines for their customers to choose from.

In the 1950’s redevelopment of Kidderminster’s Town Centre meant William needed to move premises from High Street, choosing to relocate to Oxford Street, where the company traded successfully until major investment in 2006 enabled Pritchard (Drapers) Ltd to move again to new premises on the Hartlebury Trading Estate.
The name Pritchard continued until William’s daughter Hilda married Herbert Chambers, the son of Bertram Chambers, a Kidderminster athletics goods manufacturer with premises in High Street.

Today, four generations on, the family business continues with brothers Russell and Peter Chambers with Parents Tony and Sheila together with a team of experienced staff all devoting their time
Originally supporting the local domestic market, Pritchard’s became synonymous with quality and service, a reputation that secured and continues to promote its commercial contract service today.
